Family Business

As a Mentor for not only individuals, but an Executive Coach, I am finding that more and more of my clients are entering into, or have been involved in a family owned and/or operated business venture. This kind of opportunity can be great, based on the fact that most people trust their own family members. Right? This can be the case however, trust is not the only thing that one must look at when entering into a business venture.

Whether or not, one shares the same drive, determination, passion and vision, is not only equally important, but pertainent to your company’s success. So before starting that “family affair”, try sitting down and talking about the vision, mission, and values of your company. Chances are that right at this beginning stage, everyone involved will understand each other better, and together, you will identify if everyone is “dining at the same table.”
